New York Giants: Three important matchups to follow vs the Cowboys
The New York Giants hit the road this weekend to play their annual matchup vs the Cowboys on Sunday night football. The rivalry itself is good enough. However, there are some specific matchups to follow.
The New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys square up on Sunday night football. The matchup is always intriguing because of its history. However, with both teams coming off a loss something has got to give because the path to the playoffs rarely includes 0-2.
So, we know the Giants’ defense will be ready to show up. That much became apparent after their close loss to the Jaguars last weekend.
As for the enemy, the Dallas Cowboys, it was their defense that shined in a loss to the Panthers. Their offense failed to live up to its immense potential in that one.
So, both teams arrive into Week 2 needing victory. Aside from the fact that the Giants typically play well in the “House that Jerry Built” both teams do not really know what to expect because Week 1 rarely showed us anything.
The Cowboys’ offense was nearly torn apart this offseason with the release of Dez Bryant looking more a more like a mistake
The Giants’ offense was bolstered in the offseason where they drafted Saquon and spent significant money to ensure its stays together for a long time.
So, on Sunday there will be plenty to watch for. The first Cowboys game in the Pat Shurmur led era, the first battle between Saquon Barkley and Ezekiel Elliott, and another key divisional game early in the season.
We know the drama and flair for the dramatics will be there, but what are some other key matchups to watch in this one?
Let’s dive right into it. It is rivalry week for Big Blue!
