Brooklyn Nets: Top 5 plays from Jason Kidd’s illustrious career

2. His orchestrated game winner
A lot of people recall tales, and compare them to David and Goliath.
So many sports stories metaphorically use this bible story as a way to characterize a match-up. Whether it’s the size of the team/school, a really good team vs. a Cinderella, etc. The story is very played out in sports.
With all that being said, this brief two seconds during an inbound play, was an actual David vs. Goliath play.
Kidd, obviously one of the best passers the league has ever seen, took the sideline inbound from the ref with just a few milliseconds left in regulation. The Mavs were down one point, in an October match-up vs. the Rockets.
I understand that the game really didn’t matter for the standings, but any game against a rival team is one that requires a win.
Now, Kidd, our David in the story, was sitting on the sideline, with a literal Goliath, Yao Ming, standing less than a foot away.
For reference, Yao Ming was 7″6′ on a bad day, Kidd was 6″4′. For even more clarity, Ming was 14 inches taller than Kidd.
This play was more credited to coach, Rick Carlisle for the play call, which got Shawn Marion so wide open, but the delivery landed perfectly from half court.
Marion broke off the screen set for him with daylight to the rim. When Kidd saw the opening he threw a perfect lead pass to Marion, who laid the ball up to win the game.
4.8/5 spilled drinks for Kidd on this one.
