Brooklyn Nets: Top 5 plays from Jason Kidd’s illustrious career
By Sam Friedman
This past weekend, legendary Brooklyn Nets point guard, Jason Kidd, joined the NBA’s best in the Hall of Fame. Kidd was one of the first point guards to stuff the stat sheet and contribute all over the floor.
Jason Kidd is well deserving of his Hall of Fame spot and is a Brooklyn Nets legend. He, along with Jon Spolestra rejuvenated basketball in New Jersey, a team that was struggling to get people in the door.
The NBA is notorious for having way too many people in the Hall of Fame. Tracy McGrady was an excellent basketball player, but didn’t play long enough to warrant that legendary status.
A journeyman in the NBA, Kidd’s legacy came from his leadership ability and making his teammates better basketball players.

His lifetime numbers will not jump out at you. He averaged 12.3 ppg, 8.7 apg, 6.3 rpg, 1.9 spg 40% shooting from the field, and 35% from three-point range. Those shooting percentages seem like a mistake.
However, Kidd’s legacy will never be portrayed through the numbers that he put up.
You can’t go back and talk about early 2000s basketball without mentioning J-Kidd. He was the leader of the showtime Nets, with Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson leading the squad.
Kidd had so many highlights throughout his career, that it’s hard to shave it down to five specific highlights.
However, in my opinion, here are the top five plays from his magnificent career.
As a key for how I am grading the plays, it’s based on the situation the play happened in. A play in the first quarter doesn’t hold as much water as one in the fourth. Also, converting a spectacular play against a star player is worth more points.
The plays ranked on a scale of 4.5 to 5 spilled drinks.
