The New York Jets season opens on Monday night against the Detroit Lions. Here are our keys to victory in the 2018 season debut.

Tonight is the night. We have waited long enough and the New York Jets season is finally set to open.

We are just a few hours away. At 7:10 PM, Sam Darnold makes his debut along with the rest of the Jets as they try to spoil the coaching debut of Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions opening game.

It’s not going to be an easy night. It may be Patricia’s debut but he is certainly familiar with the Jets coming off of many years as the defensive coordinator under Bill Belichick.

The Jets enter the game with a defense that allowed no touchdowns during the preseason. We will see tonight if they are able to continue that streak into the regular season under the lights.

Josh Martin is out for tonight’s game with a concussion and the defense may also be without Marcus Maye. He didn’t practice all week and we may see a lot of Doug Middleton in his place.

Tonight’s game will be the first of three in ten days for Darnold which will be a true test of how far he has come. Can he handle the changing game plans and the preparation? It starts tonight in Detroit.

How can the Jets get an opening victory in prime time on the road? Here are our keys to victory.
