The Ereck Flowers experiment has run its course with the New York Giants. Ties should be cut and both parties need to move on after a loss to the Jaguars.

On Sunday, Ereck Flowers almost single handily lost the game for the New York Giants.

The offensive line didn’t protect Eli Manning very well all day, but Flowers was easily the worst. Manning was only sacked twice, but he was hit six times, and was under pressure the entire afternoon.

The Giants offensive line has been subject of criticism for a few seasons now. Some extremely die-hard fans would’ve loved to see the Giants trade down, and get a solid offensive lineman to solidify the trench.

The Giants obviously went a different direction, taking Saquon Barkley, who was as good as advertised today.

They acquired Nate Solder, former Patriots standout, which certainly helped the Giants today. However, Solder’s solid consistency on the line doesn’t come close to how bad Flowers was.

Where to even start with Flowers?

The ninth overall pick in the 2015 draft has been horrific for the Giants since getting drafted. Coming into the draft, experts believed that Flowers was the Left Tackle of the future for the Giants.

He became starting left tackle Week 1 of his rookie season, setting a high standard that he couldn’t possibly live up to.

Geoff Schwartz, former teammate and offensive lineman with Flowers, accused him of quitting on the team, missing blocks on purpose. This must be a huge red flag for the Giants.

For the Week 1 loss, Flowers’ report card is definitely forgettable. On the first drive of the game, nay, the first play of the game, Flowers gets called for tripping. This negated a 5 yard reception.

The same drive, one play later, Flowers gets called for a holding call, that negated a 34 yard catch by Evan Engram.

Engram went up high to catch this ball over two different defenders, and Met Life celebrated. The feeling subsided as Flowers held one of the Jaguars players who wasn’t involved in the play.

At this point, Met Life Stadium, after years of watching Flowers make mistake after mistake, began to get fed up.

I feel bad for the kid. Take a moment and look at Ereck Flowers mentions no Twitter, not a pretty place right now.

After that drive, Flowers gave up one of the two sacks on Eli Manning. A Flowers missed assignment lead to the Myles Jack interception and touchdown return.

The Giants thought moving Flowers from left tackle, to right tackle would help, but clearly, Flowers doesn’t have the skill set to contribute at the highest level.

Dave Gettleman, and the rest of the Giants front office need to let him go or Eli is a dead man walking.
