Ezekiel  Ansah

More from Empire Writes Back

Some of us remember “Ziggy” the comic strip. All of us know Ezekiel Ansah, also known as Ziggy, has the ability to terrorize quarterbacks.

He has only faced the Jets once and didn’t record a sack in that game. However, that doesn’t mean that the Jets absolutely need to be concerned.

Ansah has racked up 44 sacks over his first five seasons. Last year he put up 12 and back in 2015 he notched 14.5.

It’s of the utmost important to keep the quarterback upright. That becomes even more important when you are talking about a rookie quarterback.

Sam Darnold cannot be running for his life on Monday night and expect to succeed.

The scary part is the possible matchups for Ansah. He will either be going against Kelvin Beachum or Brandon Shell.

Beachum hasn’t played yet in 2018 due to injury. The fact is we don’t know if he will hold up on Monday night. Hopefully he will, because if he comes out and Brent Qvale comes in there could be big problems.

If they move Ansah to the other side he will face Shell. Shell has been pretty good but this would be a test that he could ultimately lose.

Jeremy Bates better have a good plan to keep this guy out of the backfield.
