Here are three players the New York Jets must be aware of and stop in their Monday Night Football game against the Detroit Lions.

New York Jets football is back! OK it’s not quite back, but it is almost back. We have to wait one more day that most everybody else, but it really is almost time to kick it off for week number one.

Monday night, in the first of the now-traditional double-header, our Jets take on Matthew Stafford and the rest of the Detroit Lions.

Out of the darkness and into the light steps one Sam Darnold. He makes his regular season debut on Monday night, and the world at large gets to see why Jets fans are so excited about having him in town.

There will also be a lot asked of the Jets defense in this game. The offense has its work cut out for it, but so does the defense.

Matthew Stafford leads an offense that, no matter the players, always finds a way to put points on the board.

In contrast, the Jets first team defense did not allow a touchdown in the preseason. Granted, the play calling is quite limited but that still is an accomplishment.

It doesn’t matter if it’s in the parking lot, if you don’t give up a touchdown over multiple games, it says a lot.

So, in preparation for week number one, we take a look at three players on the opposing roster that the Jets must pay attention to and stop.
