Cup winning coach

The New York Islanders do not have a Cup winning coach still clinging onto a Cup that he won 10 years ago.

The Isles do not have a Cup winning coach that is out of his prime.

The coach of the New York Islanders is literally the last head coach in the NHL to win the Stanley Cup.

That is almost all that needs to be said about this point, but there is obviously more to it.

Throughout his whole career, Trotz was known for being a great coach, who always made the playoffs, but never won the Cup.

All those narratives are thrown out the window now, he took a talented Caps team and won a Cup with them.

However, even with those narratives thrown out the window, he still is the guy for the job. At this point, simply getting to the playoffs would be a great accomplishment for the Isles.

It is almost a guarantee that Trotz will at least do that. The Isles roster is not complete but showed potential last year, Trotz peaked last year so even a nice middle of both will work.

Trotz is going to change the lines up and get the most out of his talent. He is already helping Lou out with making changes to the coaching staff that badly needed it.

But, like mentioned before, let’s keep the goal simple. Get to the playoffs. Even that is a tall order but Trotz is one of the best at getting his team to the playoffs.

The Isles have not had a coach whose specialty is getting a team to the playoffs in a long time. With an eye still on a future Cup, there is no reason to think that the Isles can’t be another team that Trotz at least leads to the playoffs.
