The New York Jets are working on their edge pass rush problem, signing Jeremiah  Attaochu and having Nate  Orchard in for a visit.

The New York Jets have been on a never-ending quest to solve two problems, quarterback and edge rusher.

Sam Darnold is here so the Jets have turned their attention to the edge rusher. As we mentioned, no waiver claims were made but the team is doing some work in the free agent market.

Per Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets have added former Charger and 49er Jeremiah Attaochu.

More from Empire Writes Back

Over four years with the Chargers he lodged ten sacks. His best year came in 2015 when he posted six sacks.

Unfortunately he ran into some injury problems over the last couple of years, but when healthy has clearly added an edge presence.

Now, do they seem him as a 10-15 sack player? Probably not. But with this group he could be a helpful piece as part of a rotation.

When you don’t have a star, it’s important to have a solid rotation to bring in players that can play in a pinch and keep the starters fresh.

Adding an edge rush is going to make a difference with this team. They need to shorten the amount of time this defensive backfield needs to cover.

Wouldn’t it be about time the defense finally recorded a sack every now and then?

Next. It's Fowler time. dark

They aren’t done looking for pass rushers either, take a look:

Orchard would be an interesting addition as well, with edge presence that was noted coming out of college. He hasn’t had the chance to excel with the Browns, but he did post 18.5 sacks in his final season of college.

Let’s see if the Jets make a move on any of these guys.
