The New York Giants made a rather surprising move this weekend when they waved the apparent heir to Eli Manning, Davis Webb. Now, the Giants have officially shown they are all-in on the development of Kyle Lauletta.

The New York Giants waving Davis Webb and keeping Alex Tanney around shows us just how high the Giants are on the potential of Kyle Lauletta.

The Giants need to start thinking about the QB of the future and it seems they are.

By removing Webb, it leaves Lauletta as the team’s apparent backup. He will be the guy if something were to happen to Eli.

By releasing Webb, the Giants can focus and be all in on developing Lauletta properly. Webb still has some hurdles to cross too and the Giants proved they were not willing to work with him.

Hopefully, waiving Webb was solely a football decision. Webb was a relatively early draft picks who the old regime wanted to give reps too down the road. It does not seem like this move was a petty shot at the old regime, but it could be.

But, with Pat Shurmur, Dave Gettleman, and crew it seems apparent they did not see any potential in Webb.

The Giants failed to get a QB in the QB rich Draft class in 2018. They also failed to get anything in return for a young QB like Webb.

So, you can only hope that the Giants fully intend to have Lauletta be the next quarterback. The Giants have not done nearly enough to get a different one.

It is good for Alex Tanney has made the final cuts for now, but he is rather irrelevant he might end up seeing time on the field barring rare circumstances, but he is for sure not the next QB of the future.

Luckily for Giants fans, the Giants already seem all-in on Lauletta. They removed the one guy who would have threatened his playing time and they made room for him to be important.

This is what NFL teams do now. They find a young QB and let him sit and learn behind veterans and then let them play when the time calls for it.

This is not a new revelation.

However, for the Giants, keeping an eye on a QB not named Eli Manning is a new revelation, its intriguing.

But, once again the Giants seem committed to someone else. Take that as you will, but it is probably a good thing.
