Changed the game forever

We have talked about what Jason Kidd has done for himself and the Nets franchise. But, in what might be the most important thing to the Hall of Fame resume, he changed the game forever.

The NBA was either in its peak, or right at the end of it when Kidd was in his prime. That is an argument for a different day. But, regardless, Kidd’s style of play both maintained the greatness of those before him and paved the way for those after him.

Kidd excelled in the important stuff that some people might not care about. Kidd had unreal court vision, was a great passer, and a great defender. He could also score and knew how to close out games.

He did all this while being short to average size. He had the skill set that was going to succeed on any team. His play was charismatic which is why it lasted so long so many different teams.

Kidd changed how the point guard position should be played. Him and fellow Suns player and Hall of Famer Steve Nash have similar careers with Kidd fining just slightly more success.

Kidd is the standard for having a style that can still be effective without being just an elite scorer. He showed the world that you can still succeed by being known for defense and generating offense without making all the traditional head turning plays.

Grit and awareness is what really put Kidd on top of his position for so long.

Jason Kidd changed his franchise, his sport, and what it meant to be considered successful at his position. Those are just a few of things that shows why he truly belongs in the Hall of Fame.

You cannot write the history of the Nets without Jason Kidd and you cannot write the history of Jason Kidd without mentioning what he did with the Nets.
