New York Giants: Three bubble players who should make the final 53
Amba Etta-Tawo
It is always a feel good story when a Syracuse kid makes anyone of the New York teams. It is an even better story when he earns his way onto the 53 after years of being on NFL practice squads.
Unlike, his future teammate Hunter Sharp, Etta-Tawo showed the world that he can be a wideout on this team.
His down field speed might be able to prove as threat to opposing defenses. He scored a blazing TD in the last game and has been turning heads since as early as early August.
So, he is not an overnight sensation. He has speed and a specific skill set that will help him. His constant reps on NFL practice squads must have done him wonders.
He should make the 53. Why not. The Giants are already going to be going deep on offense by likely keeping three QBs and maybe even more running backs so they should do the same at WR.
It might seem crazy to not put Etta-Tawo back on the practice squad, but he showed enough flashes of talent and ability this preseason to maybe do something in the regular season as well.
Overall, it was worrisome that the Giants might not have had enough depth once the game against the Patriots started. Now, after a few big plays and overall hanging tight, the Giants seem to have options to bolster the roster.
The final 53 needs be completed by September 1. But, these three players have made it difficult to part ways because of the ceilings they showed in the preseason.
