New York Giants: Three bubble players who should make the final 53
Odell Beckham Jr. Just kidding. Hunter Sharp.
Hunter Sharp should be on the Giants’ 53 man roster.
Despite playing very poorly against the Patriots, no one on the Giants really did outstanding that it would hurt his chances of making the team.
Lucky for Sharp, special teamers are people too because that is how he separated himself from the rest of the pack.
His ability to score that electrifying punt return against taught us everything we need to know. It is not often a punt return can be taken to the house. Sharp being able to break through in the third preseason game separates him.
Of all the wide receivers on the bubble, Sharp awareness on the punt return unit is why he will be safe.
There is not need to ask him to go a little over his head and be a top three wide out on this team, but he still has immense value.
It might be a risk to go off of just one game but that is what the preseason is for. The opposition does not matter when Sharp was able to show blazing speed and a downfield vision vs NFL players.
He played his way onto the roster, even if it was just that one play. The Giants need a guy who can be thier putn returner and perhaps kicks too. That is the skill that helps Sharp make the final cuts.
