A.J. McCarron

This is by far the most interesting player on this list. Not because he is the biggest name, but because it felt like all of this happened in a single game.

Although the writing on the wall is indicating that McCarron is likely not going to be the starter, or really ever was, the Bills new signal caller will still just barely make the team.

McCarron comes with a less than ideal salary and two years on the deal he signed this offseason, but he showed his value.

In the fourth preseason game vs the Bears alone, McCarron went from being a sure cut in the beginning of the game to making the team by its conclusion.

He led a wild comeback and took many hits as the Bills rallied to win it in the end.

So, although McCarron got an untimely injury this preseason he had just enough reps to keep his job.

It won’t be ideal to pay McCarron millions to maybe never see the field as a starter, but he is not bad to keep around.

Quite frankly, he somehow earned it with his play this preseason. Mostly looking terrible and getting injured, he managed to show the type of grit and toughness this team needs.

Some NFL teams keep three QBs around anyway so McCarron can just be around for the party and be a competent insurance piece.

He just better hope no better QBs come onto the market because Brandon Beane might be quick to make a move.
