Special Teams keeping guys employed

Without getting into the specifics of what bubble player will or will not make the roster right now, let’s just give one example of how special teams performance will impact the final 53.

Look at a player like Hunter Sharp. Obviously, he is not a name that is synonymous with great pass catching, but he deserves a job on this team.

Sharp might be a bubble player but his special teams prowess should call for him being safely on the roster.

The Giants can always upgrade special teams as the season goes on. However, in order to start the season they need to have a guy who is explosive. Sharp is explosive, which he proved against the Jets.

With Alrdick Rosas poised to win the kicking job, the special teams unit is almost completely set in stone.

Sharp can do both punt and kick return duties and be a WR whenever there is an emergency. Of all the guys who might be on the bubble, keep an eye on how they can help the team outside of a specific one way role.

Sharp could make the roster because he can help on special teams. Other players on the offense might not be so lucky.
