New York Knicks: Knicks win inaugural NBA 2K tournament to sort of end teams title drought

The New York Knicks’ reign over the gaming world is finally solidified with a win in the NBA 2K Championship. It is a Knicks title that is unique and better than nothing.
The New York Knicks have won the Championship, just not the one we were all thinking! The KNX Gaming (Knicks’ moniker) team came away with the first ever win in the NBA 2K league.
The fact that I’m writing this makes me laugh at how far this sport (eSports) has come.
The victory came just hours before the Jacksonville shooting. One of the saddest events in recent memory.

To win, KNX Gaming topped the Miami Heat based team, Heat Check. After months and months of brain storming names, the Heat came up with Heat Check? Leaves a lot of meat on the bone.
Anyway, the Knicks based squad was the 8th seed coming into the playoffs. The team won a mid-season tournament to make it into the playoffs. They finished the regular season with a record of 5-9 making this all the more interesting.
Why is there 14 games in the regular season?
Do the players need weeks of rehab for their next games? Very confusing but besides the point for right now.
KNX Gaming were certainly an underdog coming into the final, but ended up sweeping the Heat Check, 2-0 to take home the crown.
The New York based squad were led by eventual Finals MVP, Nate Khal. Khal dominated the defensive side of the controller, helping to secure some type of championship for New York basketball.
In my opinion, if we are going to relate this to the basketball played on the hardwood, Khal probably won the Finals MVP as Andre Iguodala and Kawhi Leonard did, by guarding the best player.
Just to clarify how the game works and how the title was won, imagine if five MyPlayers, the ones from the 2K games, were all gaming within the same game.
This is much more difficult, as there five different brains working on the same 2K screen. It takes a lot of concentration, creativity, and craft.
In my limited time playing two on two 2K, I learned that it is exceedingly difficult to predict how another person is going to move/react in the game.
Nonetheless, the Knicks have emerged victorious in the first ever basketball video game league. These guys on the team are living fantasy lives, getting paid to play NBA 2K as a professional. My 13-year old self is kicking me for not taking video games that seriously.
The Jerry Ferrara lead team has set the standard in the sport/competition.
Now, it’s important for KNX Gaming to defend the throne. Time to hit the gym, ditch the Cheetos, and make sure they’re sharp for preseason. T
