As we prepare for the annual cut day, here are three players that are surprise names but are likely to make the New York Jets 53 man roster.

Cut day is rapidly approaching for the New York Jets and the rest of the NFL. No it’s not the cut day when we were kids that we would cut class, at least that’s what I heard. This cut day is a little different.

By September 1 at 4:00 PM ET, all teams must have their active rosters cut from 90 down to 53. There used to be a first cut down to 75 but that was abolished, leaving just the one deadline to reduce the rosters.

The time is coming for Todd Bowles and the crew to start making some tough decisions. There are the obvious players that will be here, and the obvious cuts. But there are also lots of players that are in the middle, that may make the team and may not.

How are those situations going to turn out? There are some players that many expect to make the team that probably won’t, and there is the other side of the coin as well.

There are players that have come out of nowhere to earn a place on the 53 man roster. These are the players we are taking a look at today.

Here are three players that are “bubble” players, likely to surprise by surviving cut day and making the final 53 man roster. You have your guesses, I have mine. Let’s get to it.
