Odell Beckham Jr and the New York Giants have seemed to agree to a deal that both allows the Giants to keep their star player and allows OBJ to have his money. It is all on him how they got here.

It seems like forever ago that Odell Beckham Jr was going to hold out of training camp until he got his money. Now, he has his money and it is not a coincidence how it happened.

When you think of current New York sports stars it does not take long to think of Odell Beckham. He might be the biggest sports name in Lady Liberty.

Now, he is also one of the highest paid.

All offseason, the biggest elephant in the room was the fact that OBJ had remained unsigned long-term.

That is not longer the issue. The deal is reportedly done.

The contract is a great one. After all, it is the New York Giants. They have money and will do whatever it takes to keep their players. They always have.

The issue with OBJ was never that he was going to leave. He has always been seen as a New York Giant for life. Rather, the issue was that it was never going to feel justified to give him this type of money because of his off field antics or issues.

Now, because of his positive actions this offseason he is getting his contract. It was inevitable regardless.

But, from a team that is coming off a season where the fans dictated a lot of the moves and put the team under scrutiny, the contract was now or never.

Odell, this offseason so far, has done everything right in earning it. Aside from a few videos that leaked earlier in the year, he needed to get this done before something else arose and make the contract seem bad or unjustified.

Odell showed up to camp. He did not hold out.

He made it clear football was his priority. He backed up that claim.

He stopped acting like someone who was getting paid less than he is worth. He still acted like a franchise guy.

This is why Odell earned this contract and sped up this process by acting correctly and having the right attitude.

His injury was not his fault, but concerning. So it says a lot about how he has cooperated that the deal is done before barely any football has been played.

Once again the Giants did the right thing and keep their talent around.

But now, instead of paying a star player who might be “troubled” they are paying a star player who is the face of the franchise and will represent them well.

Next. The Yankees' worst contract ever has a loophole?. dark

It is now time for everyone to focus solely on New York Giants football. Finally.
