Special teams looked special

If all else failed, it is hard to argue the New York Giants’ special team play was the star of the win vs the Jets.

Scoring a special teams touchdown, and a barrage of field goals, the Giants found yet another way to win a football game this preseason.

If any game in the preseason “does not matter,” it is the first one. So, based on that popular narrative let’s not count the game vs the Browns where they found a way to lose.

The Giants, the last two games in the preseason has been carried by special teams, defense, and odd depth in important places.

The QBs lit it up in Detroit. Then special teams and defense carried them in the MetLife Bowl.

Regardless, 2-1 preseason record is 2-1. The Giants found ways to rally around what they could en-route to finding a way to win.

The Jets had over 100 penalty yards, so you could even count capitalizing on that as a way of winning.

Just remember, it does not matter how you win. What matters is that you win. The Giants have now won two out of three including the most important two.

They found ways to win in both of those games and now find themselves ready to roll come September.

The Giants still have a preseason game to play vs the Patriots on Thursday. Aside from the nostalgia of the two teams squaring up, do not expect much to happen and take whatever with a pinch of salt.
