New York Mets: 3 Players who need to show us something for 2019
The future to elsewhere
The New York Mets are lucky to have Peter Alonso creeping through the ranks because their other “first baseman of the future” sure has not lived up to that moniker.
Dominic Smith is one of those players where there is really no excuse for what has happened. His hyped up call up to fall from grace happens in baseball, but felt so much quicker since he has been a Met.
The Mets have gotten better with Wilmer Flores playing at first and say what you want about Wilmer but wow is he better than Smith.
The outfield is definitely not an option either based on what we have seen there already.

Smith has been getting reps in both Vegas and Queens. However, at this point every single one counts.
Smith has the least amount of room for error out of any Mets player in general. He already proved he is not MLB ready.
Now, when he is up it simply to fill a roster spot.
Dominic Smith needs to prove something in 2018 as the season winds down. If he does not, he does not only need to worry about not making the Mets 2018 roster, he needs to worry about staying the Mets organization.
The rest of 2018 is huge for Dominic Smith.
