Somehow, the New York Mets are putting to together a respectable finish to this 2018 season. However, aside from playing spoiler there are players who need to prove they can provide something in 2019.

The New York Mets are rolling in the month of August. Of course, it is too little too late but definitely encouraging for the fans.

It is all more encouraging because they are trying to contend in 2019. Something that does not seem as far-fetched as it did a few months ago.

Right now, a lot is clicking for the Mets. Jeff McNeil is doing a decent job in his new role. Amed Rosario is a hitting machine. Michael Conforto is back to being the MLB hitter we know he truly is.

However, the biggest issue with the Mets aside from questionable ownership, and this could be the ownership’s fault, is a lack of talent.

Really from the bottom up the Mets do not have the same amount of talent as other teams in their division. They have what they have and that is it.

Free agency is usually a dreadful period of time for Mets fans and no one should count on the Mets getting significantly better that way.

With that being said, there are players who are proving they can be assets in 2019. A lot of Mets players are still on rookie contracts or locked up for the long-term.

Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, Zack Wheeler, Rosario, Conforto, Brandon Nimmo, and McNeil are all locks to be part of the opening day roster next year.

But, who has the most to prove if they want to be a prominent player for 2019.

Let’s try to help break it down.
