The losing culture is on its way out of New York. The New York Knicks are very much on the way to making the Garden special once again.

It is no mystery that Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks home,  is the Mecca of basketball. The Hall of Fame is located in Springfield, MA, but the most famous arena is in Manhattan.

Bill Simmons, whom we all know and love, had Stephen Curry on his podcast this week. Say what you want about Simmons, he has a skill at getting players to open up to him. the Bostonian, and Curry had a lively chat about Curry’s playing career.

The highlight of the conversation wasn’t about what’s happening now in Golden State, but the rise of the powerhouse we see today. The Warriors ascension to the greatest team in NBA history directly correlated with Curry’s meteoric rise as a player.

Heralded as the greatest shooter to ever grace our 4K televisions, Curry has thrust himself into the hearts of Americans. The pregame routines that garner crowds of 200+ people, his signature shimmy-shake after burying a nearly impossible three, or that he points to the sky after every made basket, Curry is hard to hate.

The Garden Effect

The Garden brings the best out of people. Mistakenly, it’s never the Knicks players that benefit from the magic of Madison Square Garden.

Over the passed years many of the NBA’s elite have left their mark at Madison Square Garden, some of them twice! LeBron James has torched the Knicks more times than I can count.

Most notably, James racked in 50 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and four steals in 2008, and then topped that with 54 points , 11 assists, nine rebounds, in 2009. Just take it easy, LeBron.

Two days before James’s decimation of the Knicks in 2009, Kobe Bryant came to New York and had his own fun. 61 points for the Black Mamba, at the time this was the record for points set in the garden.

Curry’s box score showed 54 points while converting 11 or 13 three pointers in the contest.

Others that come to mind from other teams are Reggie Miller performance vs. Spike Lee, Michael Jordan’s return to basketball, and Rajon Rondo 20 assist, tripe-double in the 2011 playoffs.

All of these highlights are from opposing players. Carmelo Anthony’s 62 point game, and the Linsanity months are the biggest moments in Madison Square Garden over the past two decades. However the perfect storm, is approaching.

This may sound as if I’m the most naïve Knick fan on the planet, but the team’s vibe has a different feeling around it. Young, energetic players that truly want to win, are actually suiting up for the orange and blue.

The losing culture is concluding, out of the ashes, the faces of Kristaps Porzingis and David Fizdale appear, ready to haul this franchise out of the abyss. the laughing-stock of basketball will have to find a new home, as the Knicks will make Madison Square Garden, the coliseum it once was, sooner rather than later.
