New York Knicks: Chances of Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler to New York and what they’d bring
Jimmy Butler is one of the most dynamic players in the league.
Jimmy Butler can essentially do it all, but what does he bring to the table for the Knicks?
Similar to Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler was traded from his long term team following the 2016-17 season.
But after a year in Minnesota, it appears that Jimmy Butler is not happy playing for the Timberwolves.
It was rumored that Butler wasn’t happy immediately following the season, but when Butler turned down a four-year $110 million extension, all heck broke loose.
It was immediately after this instance when the rumors of Irving and Butler wanting to team up in the East came out.
Jimmy Butler is a very versatile player who can play both the two and the three, and be one of the best at either position he is placed at.
Last season, Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists before getting injured.
Like Irving once again, Jimmy Butler is very injury prone and because of this he missed 23 games in 2017-8.
Back in February, Butler underwent knee surgery in an effort to repair his torn meniscus.
The surgery was successful but Butler did not play another game until the last few days of the season and then had yet another surgery in July. Ahead of the USA minicamp Jimmy Butler elected for a minor hand surgery and because of this he did not attend the USA minicamp.
The hand surgery was successful and should not sideline Butler for long, if at all. So, if Butler manages to return in a timely manner you can expect his play to be some of the best we’ve seen since his days in Chicago.
If all the cards fall into place that would be a rare feat for the Knicks. However, until other things happen, there is a real chance both Butler and Kyrie end up taking over the Garden.
