Three On the Rise

More from Empire Writes Back

Any time the defense creates a turnover, the coaches are going to notice who notched that turnover.

Doug Middleton has gotten quite a bit of time as Marcus Maye keeps working his way back to health.

Yes, his interception came on a deflection but he still had to be in the right place at the right time to make good on that deflection.

Middleton made an indelible mark for himself as the preseason hit the halfway point.

A lot of ink has been dedicated to receivers like Terrelle Pryor and Chad Hansen. Tre McBride has flown under the radar and he deserves attention.

McBride posted two receptions against the Falcons and two again versus the Redskins. Both of them against the Redskins came on third down.

Being reliable on third down gives McBride the chance to overtake players on this depth chart and find his way onto this team.

There hasn’t been a lot of action at the tight end position. The main reason has been that they have all been banged up.

The one player that has been at full strength in both games has been Clive Walford and he has taken advantage, posting two catches in each game.

At this rate, he will continue to separate himself from the pack and likely find a way onto this roster.
