New York Knicks: Goodbye, Joakim Noah thanks for nothing
By Sam Friedman
Joakim Noah, will no longer play for the New York Knicks. His expected release should come in the nest few weeks.
Everyone knows Santa Claus has two lists, the naughty list and the nice list. Similar to Saint (K)nick, the New York Knicks have two lists. But, they’re both bad.
There’s the “superstar, who comes to the New York Knicks, and gets decimated by injury” list. In addition to that, there’s the “faded superstar, who comes to the Knicks for resurrection, and fails” list.
The former, and much shorter list is the decimated by injuries list. Patrick Ewing was very injury prone. Amar’e Stoudemire too. Don’t even get me started on Kristaps Porzingis who is currently heading down this road.

The latter of these lists is beautiful. Tracy McGrady, Derrick Rose,Derrick Williams, Steve Francis, and Dikembe Mutombo, are some names that come to mind for the “resurrected” list.
Joakim Noah, some how, is on both of these lists.
Noah was a signing that the Knicks fans were looking forward to. In the season prior to joining the Knicks, he injured himself thus requiring surgery on his shoulder.
However, during that injury time Nikola Mirotic and Pau Gasol had become the starting front court for the Bulls, fading Noah out the starting lineup.
Then it seemed hard to justify taking Noah out of the lineup. He is a two-time all-star, Defensive Player of the Year and All-NBA first team selection. He should have been starting or at least got his job back.
So, since he couldn’t shoot like Gasol and Mirotic, the fit wasn’t there for the Bulls.
Fast forward and Noah signs with the Knicks, as he knew the Bulls were moving on. Noah, who spent his entire life growing up New York, became big piece of the Knicks’ puzzle.
Assessing his time in New York.
Still relatively young, only a few years removed from a Defensive Player of the year award, Noah was going to captain the Knicks.
He was going to help mold Porzingis and instill a winning culture in New York. His fiery play, and emotional persona would’ve been a perfect building block.
None of this happened. Noah flopped. That is why he made both of the aforementioned lists.
Now, he’ll get paid all his money, and the Knicks will have wasted something that could’ve been great.
Noah’s role was to be the backbone of this team, even to this day. Last year, he fought Jeff Hornacek. If that’s not enough there is more to follow. He was constantly hurt, and when he played his stats were laughably bad.
Noah, who dove completely off the deep end this summer, was not a good fit in this team. He is not a good fit on any team at this point in his life.
Noah will skate off into the sunset with all of his money and having played in 53 total games as a New York Knick.
So, when you leave, thanks for trying. But, also thanks for basically nothing.
