New York Yankees: Giancarlo Stanton has picked great time to go on a tear
The New York Yankees have a tall hill to climb if they plan on getting back in the AL East division race. However, they are back into a groove and there’s a man behind this recent run.
The New York Yankees stole the offseason by essentially stealing Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins before the season started. Although Stanton did not start the season off as a terrible player, he was still not the MVP, $200 million dollar player the Yankees traded for.
However, Stanton is on a tear now and he is slowly but surely helping to make sure the Yankees do not fall out of the playoff picture and making sure they are beating bad teams.
During the four-game series vs the Texas Rangers, Stanton was hitting those pitchers so hard it made me feel legitimately bad for people who get to play baseball for a living. What Stanton is doing from the DH position should not even be allowed in baseball.

All jokes aside, Stanton is choosing the right time to have his best run of the season.
With Aaron Judge injured, the Yankees need to make up for all of Judge’s production. That is an order almost as tall as Aaron Judge himself.
Judge was the main home run guy, RBI guy, a good fielder, and was a good balance to throw into the DH.
Then, he went down for what will still be a while with a broken bone.
As if things couldn’t get much worse the Yankees, they then decided to play their worst series of the year in Boston vs the Red Sox. They lost all four of those games, four different ways.
In addition to that, their pitchers basically swapped roles. Guys like Luis Severino started struggling and Aroldis Chapman started working slower. While Lance Lynn is looking like an ace and guys like CC Sabathia are holding their own.
So, that is why what Giancarlo has been doing lately is even more important. He waited, whether a coincidence or not, for the Yankees to need an MVP type player to start playing like an MVP type player.
Five home runs in six games mean a lot more when the Yankees are struggling to beat a team like the Texas Rangers.
Now, because Stanton is giving them production and a lot of insurance, everything else is starting to come together.
The outfield is still a mess because Stanton’s hamstrings are making him do a majority of his damage as the DH, but the Yanks are still winning games and taking care of teams they should be beating.
The Yankees knew what they were getting in Giancarlo and they need to hope he can keep it going even when Judge comes back.
Now, Stanton is up to 30 home runs and is almost back to being a lock to hot one every game. He is a big reason why even without Aaron Judge and shaky pitching the Yankees are 30 games above .500 and comfortably in the playoffs.
