New York Jets: Three takeaways from Falcons game unrelated to Sam Darnold
Here are three takeaways from the New York Jets preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons that weren’t related to quarterback Sam Darnold.
What a night for the New York Jets. The preseason has begun and it started with a bang. Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold made his debut and the Jets pitched a preseason shutout at home for the first time.
Of course, being the preseason, and game one at that, the result on the scoreboard is far from the most important thing. I mean a win is nice, but it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. What matters is progress.
We certainly saw progress on Friday night. Darnold looked quite good as we talked about after the game last night. He was solid and it didn’t look like the game was too big for him.
However, he wasn’t the only one that looked good. There were positive plays all over the field on both sides of the football. Even in the preseason, a team has to be doing something right if they throw a shut out. 17-0 is a solid job even if backups are beating other backups.
So that is what we are going to look at this morning. What stood out for the Jets on Friday night that was not related to Sam Darnold? There are other players on this team. How did they look? Who looked the best?
Let’s get to it. Here are three takeaways from the game that do not involve a certain rookie quarterback.
