New York Giants

2017 Finish: 3-13, missed playoffs

New head coach, new coordinators and new GM. Throw in new schemes and new personnel, yet you still get the same ol’ Eli Manning.

Ownership looked to create a completely new regime around the New York Giants and it looks like they brought in the right pieces to do so.

Now, 3-13 still means something. I don’t know if its more the team giving up on ex-coach Ben McAdoo or about the talent. But if I were to guess, I don’t think it is because a lack of talent.

The New York Giants defense this season has changed its schemes completely. They have gone to a 3-4 which is a completely new system.

The team brought in veteran linebackers Alec Ogeltree and Conor Barwin. The Giants haven’t had leadership at the linebacker position since Antonio Pierce. They also added depth players like Kareem Martin and William Gay.

But, by far the best two players on this defense Landon Collins and Damon “Snacks” Harrison need to lead this defense and get it back to its day of being in the top 10 in total defense.

On the other side of the ball, the Giants offense with Saquon Barkley will provide a spark and will be dynamic, we know that. But, this Giants offense is more complex than that.

This offensive line is completely revamped with 4 four new starters. Nate Solder, a proven veteran and Will Hernandez, the highly touted second round pick, will look to bolster the left side of the line.

Odell Beckham Jr. is back, healthy, and will be a force. Evan Engram, in year two, will be even more dynamic. Also, Sterling Shepard is developing into one of the best slot receivers in the league.

So, with Saquon now, this running back committee is deep and talented. Jonathan Stewart still has some gas left in the tank and Wayne Gallman was looking to be the starting running back before the draft.

But, this whole offense will hinge on the performance of Eli Manning.

If he can just get them to the playoffs, he turns into a different quarterback and we all know what happens when Eli is in the playoffs.

From 3-13 to playoffs?

The Giants 2019 outlook is looking pretty good. The 2019 projected record is 10-6.

This roster is very talented. The new regime in place hopefully will bring the best out of this group.

The beginning of the season is tough and there might be some scary moments, but once the Giants get out of the bye week, the remaining games are winnable other than in Philly on Nov. 25th.

dark. Next. What are the expectations for Giants fans?

Look for the Giants to contend for a Wild Card spot.
