New York Giants: Realistic finishes for every NFC East team- playoffs for Giants?
By Nico Doria
The New York Giants play in an NFC East that is as stacked as its been in years. Great rosters, veteran and young quarterbacks, established head coaches.
The Eagles won the division with a backup quarterback and now the starter is coming back.
The Cowboys will have a full season of Zeke, Dak to lead them, and no Dez.
The Redskins have a new guy at the helm and will look to improve from the Kirk Cousins Era.
But, how do the New York Giants stack up against the their arch rivals in which the Giants look to go from worst to first?
The Giants drafted a running back with the second overall pick and that shows that they are in a win now mode.
They feel Eli Manning still has some left in the tank.
So, here’s how the NFC East looks for 2019 starting with the Champs.
Philadelphia Eagles:
2017 Finish: 13-3, Super Bowl Champions.
Starting with the dangerous NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles look to be the first team to go back-to-back since they did it last in 2003-2004.
For the most part, their roster can be seen as the best in football.
The additions on defense of Michael Bennett, Daryl Worley, Corey Nelson, and Haloti Ngata to an already stout defense only provides more depth and talent.
Malcolm Jenkins and Fletcher Cox are corner stones to this defense and remain in tact to continue their defensive dominance.
The Eagles offense added Mike Wallace who was brought in to provide a deep threat and a type of receiver that they haven’t had since Desean Jackson.
A full season of Jay Ajayi will be a huge boost to the run game too.
Their only question is depth at tight end. The Eagles released long-timer Brent Celek and lost Trey Burton to the Bears in free agency but they still have one of the best tight ends in football in Zach Ertz.
But, the most important addition is getting back a healthy Carson Wentz. Before his injury, Wentz was seen as the clear-cut MVP of the league.
Outlook for the Eagles in 2019 is looking great. Projected Record is 12-4.
Looking to dethrone a team that won the Super Bowl with their backup quarterback will be a tough task. Look for the Eagles to repeat as NFC Champions and for them to compete for a title again in 2019.
