New York Jets: Five players to watch vs. the Atlanta Falcons
Chris Herndon
For those of you that read my work, you know Herndon wasn’t my first choice for the position. I am partial to the upside of Jordan Leggett. However, that is becoming a moot point quickly.
Why? He can’t get on the field. He missed all of last season and he hasn’t practiced in days. Leggett is simply falling too far behind the other tight ends to catch up and make a mark.
That being said, we must not take credit away from Herndon. He is running away with the chance to earn this starting job, looking good on a regular basis.
The latest report by Matt Stypulkoski of NJ.com indicates that Herndon continues to make terrific catches. A reliable tight end is a good friend to a quarterback both young and old.
After several years without one, we saw the tight end position return to prominence under offensive coordinator John Morton. It will be more of the same under Jeremy Bates in 2018.
Herndon will be fun to watch as he tries to take a strong hold of the starting tight end position, and it begins tonight at MetLife.
