BWP gets his glory

You don’t even need to be a Major League Soccer fan to enjoy this awesome thing, just a fan who enjoys a good story because that’s all this is.

Bradley Wright-Phillips is one of the most underrated New York athletes of all time. There is no doubt in my mind that what he is doing for the Red Bull would mean so much more if it were in a bigger, more followed New York sport.

Becoming the fastest player to score 100 goals is like a Yankee becoming the fastest player to 3,000 career hits. It’s not a record that will never be broken but one that will last.

More from Empire Writes Back

On Sunday vs LAFC, and theoretically all season, his accomplishment will be honored. #BWP100 is taking Twitter by storm and the Red Bulls held a ceremony for him to celebrate.

Now, they also retired his number while he is still an active member of the team. He is the best New York Red Bulls of all time.

He is probably the best athlete from England to ever play in New York and definitely the best professional soccer player this city has ever seen.

Right now, he is the talk of the MLS and the New York Red Bulls and it is awesome. He deserves every second of it and every New York sports fan should know the name. Right now he is the man, in a few months, BWP will still be the guy and likely forever.

It’s good to see a New York sports legend getting the respect he deserves and him being honored is an awesome moment right now.
