The New York Yankees are in a tough spot right now with their rotation. Between random cold stretches, ill-timed injuries, and worthy opposition, the Yanks are not getting it done. But, the future is near.

The New York Yankees are coming off a series that saw them needing to call up Chance Adams to start a game in Boston. Everything that could have gone wrong for the Yanks’ starters last week did.

But, have no fear, the pitching of the future is close and will be here soon.

The Yankees are a team in 2018 that could definitely still compete for a World title. No one is trying to use their starting pitching as a lazy excuse if they don’t win it all.

But, the Yankees are good enough to remain in a good place even beyond this 2018 season. They are still young, talented, and have a good farm system.

Sure a title in 2018 would be nice but things are unraveling. This also is not the end of their window to compete, it’s the beginning.

The starting pitchers of the future are coming. The lineup might look similar come September and beyond. Aside from the rotation.

As of now, things are looking like Sonny Gray and CC Sabathia will be gone. Lance Lynn and J.A. Happ will be free agents at the end of the year. So, the Yankees need to get creative with how to fill the spots up.

Luis Severino, despite recent struggles, is a near lock to be the ace again. Tanaka will be in the rotation again as well.

So, the Yankees can easily fill the rest of the holes through smart spending and use the talent they have in the system. Justus Sheffield, the future face of the rotation should be on the 2019 team.

Chance Adams, who we saw a dosage of in Saturday afternoon’s loss, made a good enough first impression to show he can be in the rotation.

Domingo German still needs some fine tuning but has had some decent starts in the big leagues since he made his debut.

There is more. Jonathan Loaisiga tapped his potential earlier in the season too. He is poised to get another go at the Major League level.

The Yankees have all these players who are all so close to being every fifth day MLB pitchers. This is not even including 2019 free agents. Some names on that list, who may or may not go the Yanks includes Adam Wainwright, James Shields, Patrick Corbin, and Charlie Morton.

Let’s not forget, the Yankees can still make trades this offseason and get pitchers that way too if they feel there is not enough on the market.

So, the Yanks might not have everything going for them right now in 2018. However, life goes on beyond this season and even the next.

The Yankees were very wisely buyers this deadline to maintain a good pace this year without giving up a lot of future assets.

They still have Sheffield, Adams, German, Loaisiga, Severino, and Tanaka as they prepare for what their rotation can look like.

As for this year, they still have a chance too. Happ will get healthy and not need to miss any more starts. Gray will try to make himself an asset again in the bullpen and Lance Lynn will dial in.

Also, the Yankees still have September call-ups and the roster expansions to let some of these pitchers get their feet wet this year.

But, no matter what happens in 2018, the Yankees’ future looks promising. If even half of these pitchers live up to their potential the Yankees are in good shape for years to come.

So, the Yankees might not be able to beat the Red Sox in the division this year. And they might struggle to keep the home game in the AL Wild Card, but, the rotation of the future of the team is coming.

Life for the Yankees goes on beyond this season. One day, their biggest liability will arguably become their best asset.

dark. Next. Lance Lynn is here to save the 2018 rotation

The future pieces are on their way. So, don’t fear too much longer. Everything will be okay.
