David  Fizdale is the new coach of the New York Knicks and he is preparing for  the challenge of working with this young Knicks team.

The New York Knicks are still a weeks out from being together but they are each preparing for this year’s upcoming journey. The players are stepping up along with Coach Fizdale.

Kevin Knox his currently working with Kyrie Irving’s God father, Rod Strickland.

Frank Ntilikina has been constantly in the gym and weight room better preparing for the wear and tear of an NBA season.

Mitchell Robinson, (a summer league favorite), is training tirelessly to keep expanding and improving his offensive game.

With all this happening, David Fizdale has done his best to work with his assistant coaches on how he can put his offense into place to better allow the young men to succeed.

This includes taking trips to Latvia to mend old wounds with his future star Kristpas Porzings. Fizdale is trying better to understand/get to know him. It is important Fizdale works hard to keep him happy.

Coach Fizdale has already gone above and beyond anything that Phil Jackson or Jeff Hornacek did during their time in New York.

But, this next challenge will truly put him to the test. The challenge of him trying to stick with the process and not go against the grain of the rebuild.

For example, he has to keep players mentally ready throughout the whole season without letting the rookies and first/second year Knick players become damaged confidently.

No one will be upset if somehow magically Coach Fizdale can take this young talented team to the playoffs and create a winning culture his first year out.

However, no one wants to see Porzingis try and rush back because he thinks he can help with a playoff push in December only to damage himself even more long-term.

Scott Perry has started building the Knicks the right way he’s doing everything that Phil Jackson talked about doing, not over paying players and signing them ridiculous long contracts that they could realistically never live up too like the Joakim Noah one.

Coach Fizdale’s biggest challenge is working with the front office and staying on point with the plan. Philadelphia had the slogan of “trust the process”, the Knick’s need to try “Stick with the plan.”

If by some wonderful miracle they can follow through on what they have started in preparation for next year’s free agents and draft, then Kyle O’Quinn will be wishing he kept his mouth shut and stayed put instead of running to Indiana.

Next. Three Things to expect from the Knicks this year. dark

Coach Fizdale, stick to your plan. Slow and steady wins the race.
