Keep Trey Burke Happy

Goal number three is to keep point guard Trey Burke happy. Burke, like Kanter is set to become a free-agent following the 2018-19 season.

The Knicks signed Burke in January of 2018 and it paid off in a large way. In 36 games Burke surprised just about everyone when he averaged 12.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists. Not great numbers but still pretty good considering they have him for less than $1.8 million this year.

If Burke puts up those numbers again this season they would have gotten one of the biggest steals in recent memory. Not only that but Burke should be even better this upcoming season when he will play in a starter role for an entire season.

Last season Burke averaged 21.8 minutes per game and in less than 22 minutes he still put up some respectable numbers. If he can do that when he started off in a bench role imagine what he’ll be able to do if he starts for the Knicks next season.

The Knicks might have one of the biggest steals in the NBA under their belts and they should do whatever they can in order to keep him around for the long haul.

If the Knicks manage to keep Burke around they will have someone who they know what they’re getting out of and they will have a point guard who they won’t need to break the bank on. Keeping Burke around is a great idea due to the fact they would have a quality point guard for a cheap price.

With this in mind the Knicks need to do everything in their power to keep Trey Burke around for the near future.
