Keep Center Enes Kanter Happy

The Knicks were horrible last season but one player who wasn’t was Enes Kanter. Kanter averaged a double-double with 14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists. This was also without Kristaps Porzingis for a good portion of the season.

If you combine Kristaps and Kanter you’ve got a backcourt duo that could make some serious damage in a weak Eastern Conference. With that in mind the Knicks need to do whatever they can possibly do in order to keep Kanter happy in 2018-19.

Following this upcoming season Kanter will be a free agent and will likely have various offers around the league. If the Knicks want to be competitive in the future they need to do everything they can to keep him around.

This goal should not be too difficult seeing Kanter seems to love New York and has been trying to recruit many players such as LeBron James himself to New York. If he was recruiting players such as LeBron who signed long-term contracts that should be a good sign right?

Kanter seems to feel right at home in New York and if the Knicks can keep him feeling that way they might have their center for the near future. The only problem is how much would the Knicks be willing to offer Kanter come the 2019 off-season?

Kanter could get pretty expensive depending on how he plays during the upcoming season. If he plays well he could be offered a four-year deal within the $75-100 million range. The deal which is set to expire following this season was a four-year $70 million deal.

So if the Knicks want to be competitive in the near future they need to do whatever they can to keep Enes Kanter happy in an effort to keep him around following the 2018-19 season.
