The New York Rangers are coming off a rather unusual season in 2017-2018. They missed the playoffs and opened up about their plans for a rebuild. So, what can we expect from them in 2018-2019?
The New York Rangers are coming off a season where things really did unravel quickly. Last season, they were coming off a playoff series victory. For this season, they are coming off a house cleaning.
The Blue Shirts, much to the chagrin of some, were open and honest about a rebuild and said they are all-in ob building a Stanley Cup champion and a contender.
It is definitely not ideal for the team to come out and say they don’t plan on winning much for the next few seasons and that they had given up on what they had. However, it is encouraging because the honestly shows ambition and long-term progress.
Last season, the Rangers cleaned house giving away most of the familiar faces in order to bolster draft picks.
Really, the only veteran left standing from the team’s glory days and their Cup run is Henrik Lundqvist.
The Rangers fired their coach, traded away their captain, and missed the playoffs. All those things are definitely not what you want the highlights of a season to be but that is the reality,
This is all with the intention to get younger and better, however, so it is not all bad. So, with that being said, what will the Rangers look like with all these changes.
