New York Giants: Week 5 opponent overview, matchups and prediction
After a Week 4 matchup against the Saints in New York, the Giants will travel to Charlotte to square off against the Carolina Panthers.
The New York Giants and Carolina Panthers have an interesting history. The last time the two squared off was in 2015 when the Panthers came into the game boasting a 13-0 record.
During that game future NFC East rivals Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman continued to go at each other all afternoon.
It all started in the first quarter when Odell slowed down a bit while Norman was tracking the ball, the two collided and a fight broke out.

Not long after that the two went at it again and then there seemed to be something on every drive, including when Beckham got a touchdown and proceeded to step over Norman who was on the ground.
Unfortunately we won’t get to see that specifc matchup when the Giants travel to Charlotte because Norman now plays in Washington, but it will be an interesting game nonetheless. The last time the Giants played in Carolina it didn’t go nearly as planned.
In 2013, the Giants traveled to Carolina for a Week 3 matchup against the Panthers, and that was about it for the Giants. The Panthers ran the Giants out of the stadium and beat them 38-0 in a game where the Giants went for a total of 10 first downs and Eli Manning threw for only 119 yards.
Here’s to hoping the matchup goes a bit differently for the G-Men in week five when they face off with the Panthers once again.
