The New York Yankees are coming off another bizarre series loss on the road to a division opponent. However, this time, it’s just because they are in the dog days of summer.

The New York Yankees are such a good baseball team. There is no evidence to support otherwise. Yes, a series loss to a team like the Rays is not ideal but that is just summer baseball.

The Yankees dropped two and won one vs the Rays in Tampa to start the week. They played admirably but fell just short.

The starting pitching got exposed a little bit but not too badly. All the while, in the midst of it all, the Yankees acquired Zach Britton.

But in terms of the product on the field, it is just a reflection of the season being in the summer.

The Yankees did not play poorly against Tampa. They rallied in almost every game they lost and even took one in the middle game of the series. They just didn’t have everything go their way and it costs them a few games, that’s all.

But, even the stretch before that Tampa series showed the Yanks are simply in the dog days of summer. They couldn’t sweep the Mets in the series before either.

What is happening to the Yankees, in what is not even a losing streak, is just baseball. Things happen in this game.

Sonny Gray has become a liability, it rarer but pitchers do that, it happens. Gleyber Torres got hurt while being productive, then the team coincidently struggled. That is baseball it happens.

The Yankees are still well in the playoff picture and are still a great team. They cannot win every series all season long. They are gonna lay eggs on random nights and victories are not going to come as easy as they did in months like April and May.

It is a long season. Things happen and tides turn for a little bit. The Yanks will lose games they should win and win games they seem poised to lose.

Not that there are signs of panic, but the losses should not be that frustrating. The Yankees are still who we all think they are.

Great offense, a great bullpen, and a few reliable starters. The starting rotation needs a lot of help but we have known that for a long time. The show goes on.

This upcoming the weekend the Yanks have a series against the abysmal Royals. This is where they can maybe turn some of their bad breaks around

Although beating bad teams has been difficult for the Yankees all season the most recent stretches are simply because we are in the dog days of the summer. The stretch of the season where it’s hot out, there is no urgency to beat bad teams, and the playoff picture is clear.

The New York Yankees will be just fine. There are going to more series losses again but it is not a persistent issue.

It’s baseball. That is the grind of this game. Sure it is easy to point fingers and blame certain players or decisions, but the Yankees are still well above .500.

Also, the Red Sox are just so good that the Yankees cannot really do much about it if they are not playing against each other.

Until the end of the summer hits, or the Sox vs Yanks matchups are happening, just sit back and relax. Brian Cashman will get a starter. Giancarlo Stanton will stay hot. Aaron Judge is a Yankee and the season is simply just happening.

Britton trade is Cashman at his finest. dark. Next

Do not overlook it as anything more or less than the grind of the baseball season in the summer in New York. There is no reason too yet.
