Playoffs?

In the introduction slide, it was mentioned how the Isles are still years away and that predicting a Cup would be a little much. But, it does not say anything about the playoffs.

Last year, a lot of people thought the Isles would make the playoffs. That obviously did not happen. The season went so poorly that ownership made swooping changes.

Now, considering the Isles now have Stanley Cup winners running the show, and a roster that only improved, there are little reasons to think the Isles cannot squeak into the playoffs.

Barry Trotz’s teams almost always make the playoffs. Lou Lamoriello’s teams almost always make the playoffs. Notice a trend here?

It is easy to see that the Isles almost always do the opposite of what is expected but the Isles should make the playoffs in 2019.

Yes, they have not played a game yet under the new regime but most of the puzzle is completed and that is at least good enough to get to the playoffs.

They still do not stand much of a chance to get to even the second round but they will be there. The people involved are just too smart to miss out on the postseason.

You can include all the biases you want and no one is even arguing that teams like the Hurricanes and Panthers will be a lot better too. However, the new changes will just be way too effective.

The east will be stacked once again this upcoming season but the New York Islanders should find just enough in them to make the playoffs under the names that are always there.

Predicting the playoffs is a little too ambitious but the breath of fresh air and culture change make is a safe one.

There will are plenty of things to expect for the upcoming season on the Island and as always drama will begin to unfold, however, right now, these are three of those things to expect.
