We already know about the swooping changes made by the New York Islanders this offseason. However, what exactly should we expect from the Isles in 2018-2019? Let us try to help.
The New York Islanders are finally changing their destiny and once again looking like a competent organization.
That feels like it is 90% to do with Lou Lamoriello and his no-nonsense takeover. However, landing great draft picks, keeping some of the core together, and making quiet moves are more than likely going to pay their dividends.
With last season being such an up and down, mostly down, mess, the Isles can really only go back up from here.
Although it is not wise to jump to rash decisions and think the Isles have a legit chance at the Cup in the first year of this new brand of hockey, they definitely got rid of some old demons and could ride that into a pretty enjoyable season.
The former captain, who shall not be named, might not be returning but that gives the Isles the perfect opportunity to get a little younger and gives fresh faces time to shine and prove their worth.
Have no fear, Islanders fans, any season without Garth Snow will be much better than all the ones with him. A new era is here. But since it is still so early during the “Lou Days” let’s try to mark down realistic expectations from this team.
