The narrative of the Brooklyn Nets’ off-season thus far is that the rebuild is on track. In particular, General Manager Sean Marks is doing a stellar job. However, the best is yet to come.

The Brooklyn Nets are coming off another abysmal season. The catch is that they were not expected to do much anyway. Prior to last season they were still in the heart of their rebuild. Now, they are just a year or two away from it all coming together.

With the recent news of the Kenneth Faried deal, it shows that Marks is still busy working when the season is still ways away. More importantly, it shows his brilliance.

Not only do the Nets get a talented big man with some superstar in him, he got rid of the injury prone Jeremy Lin, pretty much maintained where they were in the cap space, and acquired a first round pick from the Denver Nuggets.

It is almost impossible to not be content with gaining a talented player the Nets need, a first round pick, and maintain the heart of the team and keeping an eye on the future.

That trade shows not only Marks is smart with the cap and all the loopholes that come with it but it shows that he will be dependent on talent and  parting ways with players who won’t get it done on the court.

With a plethora of free agents set to be free in a stacked class in 2019, it imperative the Nets build just enough to convince players to play in Brooklyn but also not too much to lose all their assets.

I have the utmost faith that Sean Marks will not make a lot of mistakes . This season is huge for him and he needs to hit it out of the park. There is talk that Spencer Dinwiddie might get traded, only his progress during the season will tell that tale.

However, the Nets need to improve their win total to assure the fans that there is hope. Another 28 win season or less will not be enough  to bring in free-agents or convince anyone there is direction.

Therefore, the best is yet to come from Marks. He needs to continue to improve that is exactly what he has done since take over.

Sean Marks has shown he can mange the cap, trade for talent, develop players, and find loopholes to get out of negative situations.

There will be plenty of more trades that Marks make until and during the season. He finally has draft picks to work with. Marks will have the sea of talened players to recruit over to Brooklyn.

The Dwight Howard trade, despite it’s short-lived run is still effective. His draft picks have proven nothing but with time can. The Faried trade makes sense for the Nets and Nuggets.

This off-season has not royally messed up once. With all the old baggage the Nets and their front office has, that is something the Nets desperately needed.

Next: Imagine this scenario Nets fans

Just keep looking forward Nets fans. It is only going to get better from here and there are a lot of reasons to have faith in the new guys in charge. The best is still ahead too.
