Quarterbacks

More from Empire Writes Back

  • Josh McCown: 78

    • 78 makes sense here. He has the highest accuracy ratings on the team, with ratings of 88, 83 and 79 on short, medium and deep throws respectively. It appropriately places a journeyman quarterback that can play but has clear limitations. It reflects his best work from last year which was his high completion percentage.
  • Teddy Bridgewater: 78

    • Bridgewater is an interesting player to try and give a rating to. Why? He hasn’t played a meaningful snap in two years. What is he going to look like when he finally gets in there? The rating has to be loosely based on what he did in 2015 and what the Jets have reported out of minicamp. Bridgewater is rated as the most agile of the quarterbacks with a rating of 82. Depending up on how things go, one could argue that 78 might be high heading into 2018 training camp.
  • Sam Darnold: 75

    • So the man of the hour has received a 75 overall rating. What do we think, fans? Compared to other rookies it is a bit lower, as Josh Rosen was given a 78, which was higher than Jared Goff‘s rating of 77. There really isn’t a lot to say about a rookie rating. It is arbitrary based on a player’s work in college. It probably could have been higher, as Darnold was the highest rated QB in the draft for most teams. It is what it is. Hopefully he will cause the update to raise his rating quickly.
