Although the New York Mets are almost guaranteed to be sellers at the deadline, here are five players that should survive that purge.

We all know the situation the New York Mets are in. Barring some sort of miracle that nobody sees coming, it’s over for 2018. They sit with a 34-39 record, barely ahead of the Miami Marlins in the NL East. Not that he is close to returning at this point, but a 2015 Yoenis Cespedes hitting spree would probably not be enough to save these guys. 2019 here we come.

The Mets are going to be sellers at the trade deadline. Yes it is still early in July but we can mark that down right now. It’s rebuild time. They are going to have to rework this team. John Ricco and company are going to be busy working the phones leading up to the end of this month. According to Ricco, virtually everyone on the roster will be fair game.

However, that doesn’t mean that everyone needs to go. The roster doesn’t have a great deal of talent but it does have some. The Mets are going to rebuild but they have to rebuild around the talent that they have. Today we are going to look at five players that the Mets should keep and should survive the inevitable roster purge that is coming.
