The New York Islanders are going through a rare amount of changes and quickly. However, there is still one piece to their puzzle that needs to incorporate himself into the new culture, Josh Ho-Sang.

It has been quite some time since the New York Islanders and Joshua Ho-Sang were talked about in the same sentence in terms of a dramatic storyline.

Everyone knows he is still in the organization. He is also still seen as a top prospect. However, as one of the biggest stories last year he has kind of gone to the wayside recently.

Now, we must not forget about Josh Ho-Sang. He has a better chance than ever to succeed now. Out of all the people who have a chance to benefit under the new coach and John Tavares leaving, it is Josh Ho-Sang.

How? Because last season, during his time on the Isles, he was far from perfect. Ho-Sang, despite having one of the best pure skill sets I have ever seen, made a lot of mistakes and failed to generate enough on a deep offensive team.

But, was he really given the chance? He was moved up and down a lot last season and was particularly big when injuries occurred.

However, despite playing a lot two years ago he still only managed to play one more game than the year before. It would have been ideal to see him play a lot more than he did in 2016-2017 but he didn’t. He only scored two more points too.

It’s not he is developing slowly it is just that there was really no room for him last year. The Isles first line was near concrete last year. Now that the Isles lost Tavares, and the future of Anders Lee still to be determined, Ho-Sang has a true chance to work his way up into the top six.

He has the skills to be a top six guy. But now, I believe he has the opportunity. Going even beyond what he can do for the Isles his development is important in other ways.

Barry Trotz and Lou Lamirello alluded in an interview that the Isles can get better through trades. That is exactly why the Isles might not want to forget about Ho-Sang.

With all the new changes, a fresh breath of air, and actual reps in the NHL Ho-Sang can easily become a hot commodity. For the Isles, it would be nice to have him but he could also help them by being a trade piece to improve *cough cough Erik Karlsson trade?*

I think Ho-Sang is better off being traded. His wishy-washy run last year kind of showed that the old regime, the one that brought him, kind of gave up on him He can be a big piece in helping the Isles get a much needed veteran stud to help them win and propel them.

But, no matter what role Ho-Sang has on the Isles, it is imperative the Isles don’t forget about helping him develop and play him. Because regardless of how or where, he is a huge part of the Isles rebuild.

Do not forget about Josh Ho-Sang. Whether he proves himself to be a top scorer for the blue and orange or proves he can be valuable to somewhere else, he is an asset to this team and a big piece to the rebuild.
