New York Jets: Five important players for 2018 season not named Darnold
The TE Winner
I used Leggett in the picture because our prediction for the position was made about Leggett. In my opinion, he ultimately beats out Chris Herndon and the rest of the competition with the upside that he has now that he is healthy. However, whoever comes out with the job will be a huge cog in team success in 2018. So our third selection is any one of a group.
Why? This offense uses a tight end. Not Quincy Enunwa moonlight as one in his spare time. Granted, Enunwa did a good job in the spot years ago, but they need an actual tight end. It was essential when John Morton was running the offense and it will be the same for Jeremy Bates. Tight ends are safety valves for a young quarterback and help them gain confidence.
Last year gives us all of the prove we need. Austin Seferian-Jenkins may not have been as explosive as the team hoped but he was solid. He posted career highs in receptions (50) and yards (357). He would have had a career high in touchdowns if it weren’t for the referees. ASJ also caught a pass in every game he played last year. The position is important and the starter will be key to any success the Jets achieve this season.
