New York Giants: Will Giants fans ever be ready for Davis Webb?
New York Giants fans need to be prepared to welcome quarterback of the future, Davis Webb, as a starter at some point in 2018.
As the New York Giants abysmal 2017 season wound towards its conclusion, many were surprised that the team never gave rookie QB Davis Webb a chance to play.
The team was nowhere close to competing and evaluating Webb would have given the team a chance to dissect whether or not they needed to draft a quarterback with the number two pick in the draft.
However, when Eli Manning was benched, it was in favor of Geno Smith, who certainly played no role in the Giants future.

Giants fans everywhere seemed to be upset that Manning was benched, but it took a few weeks for fans to ask why Webb didn’t play over Smith.
As much as Giants fans have become forever attached to Manning, it is pertinent that fans embrace Webb.
The selection of Saquon Barkley locked in the fact that Webb will get a chance to start at some point. Even with the later round selection of QB Kyle Lauletta, Webb should get the first crack at starting.
It is obvious that Manning only has, at most, 2-3 years left in him as a functioning starting quarterback in the NFL.
Next year’s draft class is already projected to be extremely weak when it comes to quarterback talent. That means because they passed on a top QB prospect this year, Webb will be the guy.
Looking ahead, the Giants first part of their schedule is going to be a gauntlet. They open with the now dangerous Jaguars, a trip to Dallas, a game in Houston against a healthy Deshaun Watson, followed by three playoff teams from 2017, the Saints, Panthers, and defending champion Eagles.
Would a 2-4, 1-5, or even 0-6 start have Giants fans ready for Webb?

If the fans can’t embrace the end of Eli and the entrance of Webb at that point, then they never will.
