How does the Giants offense stack up against the Cowboys defense?

More from Empire Writes Back

Last season the Cowboys let up an average of 20.75 points per game, letting up only a total of 13 points against the Giants between two games. Week two has the potential to be much different. With the addition of Saquon Barkley and a healthy Odell Beckham jr. the Giants should hopefully be able to get some offense against the Cowboys defense.

Last season the Cowboys defense took a huge dip down from their 2016 season. In 2017 the Cowboys let up 27 points or more in six games, with two of them being 35 points and the most being 42.

The Cowboys don’t generally make their money on defense, it is usually on offense but their defense does enough to get them by. However, the Cowboys made some offseason moves which could potentially give them one of the better secondarys in the league.

With the move of Byron Jones into the cornerback slot full time the Cowboys will have a decently scary secondary. Jones will be joining Chidobe Awuzie (outside), Jourdan Lewis (slot), and Anthony Brown (slot). These four corners went for a total of five interceptions in 2017, but it should be noted that Jones played 2017 as a free safety.

This is a secondary that has the potential to be one of the best in the NFL, and if Eli Manning is not careful it could be a long night.
