It is all but officially official. The New York Yankees are the best team in baseball after dominating Red Sox to open series.

The New York Yankees might be the best team in baseball. Although this article is about me making a case for it, there is not much work for me to do.

Even if the Yankees lose the next two games of this series vs Boston’s aces, they will still be the best team in baseball. There are plenty of reasons why.

For starters, the Yankees officially won’t get swept once again. The Yankees were only swept in a three games series one time this year and it was recently down in Tampa. Had a light not gotten in the way, they could have avoided a sweep once again.

However, the real reason why they are the best team in baseball goes above a win-loss record. That is obviously important but not everything.

The real thing about the Bronx Bombers is their ability to overcome and conquer. The Yankees almost never lose back to back games. That will help them win in the playoffs.

They also have overcome almost every injury this season, almost making us forget that some of these guys are injured.

Due to this, they have a handful of top prospects at their disposal. Clint Frazier and the now called up for the rest of this series Brandon Drury are just a few.

The Yankees a far and away have also beaten better teams than the Red Sox. The Yankees have series wins over the Astros, Mariners, Indians, Red Sox, Angels, and Nationals.

All those teams can be considered great teams yet the Yankees have beaten them all. The Yankees can beat everybody any given night.

In addition to all this, Aaron Boone is starting to morph into a competent manager too. He understands how to use his call-ups, his bullpen, and how to rest his players properly.

Although he still has some hiccups as a rookie manager, he still manages to get the best out of his players and all he simply has to do is buddy like with them. He needs to not intimidate them or shake their confidence, in my opinion, he has not done any of that.

But, as if things could not get any better for the Yankees right now, let us not forget that are doing all of this while they still have a glaring need for starting pitching.

This is exactly like the Houston Astros last year. They can still win any game and their line up is to be feared (the Yanks even more power than Houston did), but all while still understanding they need to go out and get a starter.

Although there are not exactly Justin Verlander‘s up for grabs this time around, the Yankees still need pitching. However, you would not even think about it anymore with how well they are playing as a team.

Once they get that pitcher, and Brian Cashman will, they will be untouchable.

While all that is happening, Giancarlo Stanton is beginning his summer heat up too. He is likely about to go out a homer every night again.

The Yankees do not need to win every game or sweep every series from here on out. They are still bound for a deep playoff run regardless. However, they probably could.

This is a rare circumstance too. The Yankees are not the best team in baseball just because they have the best line up or rotation.

They have a difficult schedule, are getting production from just about every player on the field, and are not being held back by their needs. It is a solid mixture of multiple things they are the best at.

The Yankees do everything well and have perfectly adjusted to whatever flaws they have. Nothing can stop them from winning except for themselves.

Although the Yankees have always been the Yankees, it still feels like a while since they truly felt like the best team in baseball.

Now, they do feel like the best team in the MLB. There is only room for improvement too. The playoffs are likely to go through the “Evil Empire.” But, I don’t even think we should even call them that anymore. They were built this way, not bought.

Next: Things to watch for the rest of this series

Great times in the Bronx. It is difficult to argue against the New York Yankees as the best team in the MLB. Here we go again.
