The New York Red Bulls Red Bulls are coming off another seriously impressive win at home vs FC Dallas. As the season rolls on they are compiling quite the resume and it is time to take them seriously.

The New York Red Bulls are following up an impressive 2017 MLS Playoff run with an even more impressive 2018 season.

In nearly every match, the Red Bulls look solid. Of course, they are not unbeaten but they rarely get blown out or embarrassed. More importantly, when all the cards are on the table they show up and win.

Nearly every loss the Red Bulls have this season is understandable. However, the Red Bulls do not even need or ask for any excuses. They have matches where they play poorly but almost always follow it up with an elite performance.

More from Empire Writes Back

The Red Bulls’ only true blemish in terms of underachievement this season, in all competition, is the loss to the Union in the US Open Cup.

RBNY were focused on the upcoming MLS match that same week which they did end up winning but that was still a winnable match.

So, how did the Red Bulls follow-up their only truly bad loss? By remaining focused on winning the MLS Cup. That is the trophy they want. More specifically, they followed it up by beating a top three team in the West in FC Dallas.

Down to 10 men almost the entire match due to a deserving red card, the Red Bulls still managed to net three goals against a seemingly impenetrable FC Dallas defense.

The match was not just another home win. It was a match where the Red Bulls had any type of advantage at any point. It was a statement win vs a good squad.

The Red Bulls are indeed having a great overall season. Even in all other comps that they have lost in, they played admirably and lost with dignity. That includes the previously mentioned match vs the Union because of what they did to NYCFC the round before.

This year alone the Red Bulls have already won vs the LA Galaxy in Los Angeles, won in Atlanta vs the Shield leading United, beat their arch rival NYCFC twice at home, beat the reigning two-time Western Conference champs, and now FC Dallas who is one of the hottest teams so far.

The New York Red Bulls are legit. They made the brilliant decision to put all their eggs in one basket. They want to win MLS regular season matches and finally win the MLS Cup.

With all the rumors about losing Head Coach Jesse Marsch and  Tyler Adams to Europe at season’s end, it is imperative that the Red Bulls continue this run.

It is not that the Red Bulls have a closing window, they do not. They have their USL team on one of the best academies in all of the sport, it just that they are potentially facing culture changes and losing an elite player in Adams.

Marsch and Adams are two key pieces to the puzzle. That is exactly why I would not sleep on RBNY this season, not anymore. They are both choosing to stick around until the end of the season, they know how special this club can be.

The Red Bulls face another tough opponent in what is a brutal stretch for them this season. On Sunday, they will face the reigning MLS Champions Toronto FC. Winning or losing this match does not make or break them. However,  it sure gives them a platform to keep thriving.

The New York Red Bulls are deep they can have a decent match with almost any starting XI. The Red Bulls do everything well and nothing that bad. They are elite at home. New York’s red side almost always gets at least a point.

This is a team that knows what they want. Although only time can tell if they know how to get it, they are rolling and stopping anyone in their path no matter how good they are.

It is time we start taking the New York Red Bulls seriously. They are elite and they will remain as a top-tier, elite club in the MLS this season progresses and beyond.

As good as the New York Yankees are. Even as well as New York City FC is playing, if you are a New York sports fan, you should pay attention to the Red Bulls. They have a legit chance to steal the spotlight this summer.

They are coming on strong and only getting better. The Red Bulls and even their old brand the Metro Stars and the MLS Cup might go together like oil and water historically, but something is bound to give eventually.

Next: Red Bulls did indeed prove their coach right

The New York Red Bulls are bound to break through. This 2018 club might just be the team to finally do it. Take them seriously, they are really, really good.
