New York Jets: Five best running backs on the 2018 schedule
Jordan Howard
Here is a young man that has hit the NFL scene hard since he arrived in 2016. Jordan Howard was selected to the Pro Bowl as a rookie after rushing for 1,313 yards and six touchdowns. His average per carry was a whopping 5.2 yards. He eclipsed the 100 yard mark on seven separate occasions as he took the league by storm. He followed that up last season with 1,122 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Howard is another dual threat that can be an effective receiver out of the backfield. In his first two seasons he caught 29 and 23 passes, respectively. He’s a quick player that can do everything, in a way making him similar to Bilal Powell. Howard is more of a bell-cow back than Powell but the skill sets are similar.
Fast backs have given the Jets fits for years. Players that can get outside the tackles have annually had success against Gang Green. No matter what the regime has been this has been a problem. Again, this defense ranked 24th against the run last season. The front seven is younger than it once was but it is unproven. Facing Jordan Howard will be a tough test. Kacy Rodgers will have his hands full.
